RICA Students
RICA serves about 150 students in a given school year. Most students are
Honduran nationals however there are some students from the US or other countries
whose families live in Honduras. Students come from varying financial backgrounds.
A few are from wealthy families and many are from the middle class. Others come
from poor families that would not be able to attend Ruach without some financial
assistance. All students are provided with an environment that encourages them to
maximize their individual gifts.
Students enter RICA at age 4 (mandated age under Honduran law as the age for
initial entry into school). As they grow and mature they learn academic material,
leadership, and spiritual truth appropriate to their age. Character and love for
God are key aspects of the children’s education.
Ruach students distinguished themselves through outstanding performance on
Honduras’ standardized college entrance exam. RICA students placed 20th and 77th
out of over 10,000 students taking the exam. Furthermore, students have gone on to
attend some of the most challenging universities in Honduras and current students
are seeking college opportunities in the US and other countries.
Outside of the academic arena, RICA students learn to make a difference on the
local and international level by applying their leadership skills, in community
service, missions, and other ministries.
Students demonstrate their abilities every year in the Central American and
International Student Conventions sponsored by Accelerated Christian Education.
In these academic and athletic competitions Ruach students have earned first, second,
and third place rankings competing against the winners of other regional competitions
around the world. These competitions are conducted in English, and highlight the
accomplishments of RICA students.
